bungee launch

In this video I try to give you an overview over my bungee setup as well as some tips on how to do a bungee launch.

Get a nice and tough ground peg like the one in this picture. Don't use a camping peg, it might come lose.

Besides the bungee cord you will also need a rope and welded rings. Make sure it's a welded ring and not a key ring as they might bend and eventually brake. It's a good idea to put a shrinking tube over the knot, so it can not get lose.

Place the hook on your wing well in front of the CG. The further it's in front of the CG, the more your wing will climb during the bungee launch. On the Z3 that I use in the video, it's 12cm in front of the CG.

When you placed your hook as described before, there is no need for uptrim. You also don't have to hold it at a special angle to make it climb. Just let go and let the bungee do it's work.

This is the bungee set that I use in the video:

In the beginning of the video I mention another video of mine on how to launch a flying wing. This is the video:

I want a Z3 but I'm a noob builder and it wouldn't look anywhere near as nice as yours does, plus I don't have enough time to build :( Thanks for showing this method of launching!

That's a glider tow hook from Graupner.

But there are many other glider tow hooks that will also do the job.

Some of the hooks made for wall hangings could be made to work.
